Own Your Actions

Introduce the session by welcoming students. Explain that today we’ll learn about taking responsibility for our actions. Briefly share the lesson objective: by the end, students will understand responsibility, practice owning mistakes, and learn how to make amends.

Warm-Up: What Does Responsibility Mean?

Ask students to turn to a partner and share their thoughts. Record key ideas on a chart labeled “What Is Responsibility?” Provide a word bank (e.g., honest, accountable, reliable) for support learners.

What Is Responsibility?

Read the definition aloud and highlight key phrases. Ask students to point out any words they don’t understand. Use visuals or translation as needed.

Modeling Responsibility

Model the scenario: pretend you bumped into a classmate and broke their pencil. Use apology language: “I’m sorry that I…” and “I will…”. Invite volunteers to suggest alternative responses.

Activity: Scenario Role-Play

Explain grouping and distribution of [Responsibility Scenario Cards](#responsibility-scenario-cards). Circulate to support each group with sentence starters and empathy language.
