Lesson Plan

Peaceful Problem Solvers

Students will learn a simple three-step process—identify feelings, listen actively, and find win-win solutions—to resolve peer conflicts peacefully in real-life scenarios.

Teaching conflict resolution builds empathy, communication skills, and a positive classroom community by giving students tools to handle disagreements constructively.

Peaceful Problem Solvers

Welcome students! Introduce our lesson on solving disagreements peacefully. Explain that we will learn three simple steps to help us be Peaceful Problem Solvers.

Our 3 Steps

Show the [Conflict Resolution Steps Poster](#conflict-resolution-steps-poster) as you explain each step briefly.

Step 1: Identify Feelings

Display the [Feelings Flashcards](#feelings-flashcards). Invite volunteers to name each feeling and tell when they felt it.

Step 2: Listen Actively

Model active listening with a volunteer. Emphasize eye contact, nodding, and paraphrasing.

Step 3: Find Win-Win Solutions

Explain what makes a solution win-win. Give an example (sharing a toy) and ask for student ideas.

Partner Role-Play

Hand out the [Conflict Scenario Cards](#conflict-scenario-cards) and set a timer. Circulate and praise good use of the three steps.

Reflection & Closure

Bring the class back together. Ask volunteers to share their win-win solutions and highlight good listening and feeling words.

Great Job!

Congratulate students on their hard work and remind them to use these steps whenever conflicts happen.
