Slide Deck

Power of Peer Pressure

Introduce the topic of peer pressure and its relevance in the context of substance use. Explain that the slide deck will guide the discussion and provide visual support for understanding key points.

What is Peer Pressure?

Discuss what peer pressure is. Emphasize that it can be both positive and negative, but focus today on its negative aspects related to substances. Encourage students to think of examples from their own experiences (without naming anyone).

Peer Pressure & Substance Use

Present the relationship between peer pressure and substance use. Use real statistics or examples if available. Ask the students how they think substances are connected to the need to fit in.

Strategies to Resist Peer Pressure

Focus on strategies for resisting peer pressure. Have a discussion on which strategies might work best and why. Encourage role-play examples later in the session.

Recap & Reflection

Summarize the key points discussed in the session. Allow time for questions and encourage reflection. Mention that the reflective exit ticket at the end of the lesson will reinforce today’s learnings.
