Slide Deck

Period Power

Welcome everyone! Introduce today’s topic of menstruation—why it’s called “Period Power” and how understanding it helps build confidence. Encourage an open, respectful environment.

Learning Objectives

Read each objective aloud. Explain that by the end of the lesson, students will know the definition, reasons, self-care tips, and how to track their cycle.

Warm-Up Discussion

Ask: “What have you heard about menstruation?” Invite volunteers. Write responses on the board. Emphasize respectful listening and remind students there are no wrong questions.

What Is Menstruation?

Display the [Menstruation Basics Infographic](#period-power-infographic). Point to each section as you explain: monthly shedding of the uterine lining, hormones, and average cycle length. Define ovulation and period. Pause for questions.

Hands-On Activity: Cycle Tracker

Hand out the [Cycle Tracker Template](#cycle-tracker-template) and markers. Model labeling days 1–28 and selecting marker colors for each phase. Walk around to assist and answer questions.

Menstruation FAQs

Distribute the [Menstruation FAQs Handout](#menstruation-faq-handout). Read the first two questions together and discuss. Encourage students to ask follow-up questions or share what surprised them.

Reflection

Ask students to write on an index card one new thing they learned today. Collect cards as they finish. Use these reflections to affirm understanding and plan follow-up if needed.

Thank You!

Thank students for their participation. Reinforce that menstruation is natural. Let them know they can come to you with any further questions.
