Plan Your Calm

Welcome the student and establish a supportive, confidential environment. Explain that today’s goal is to build a tool to help them manage anxiety when it arises. Emphasize collaboration and that there are no “wrong” answers.

Identify Your Triggers

Ask the student to open their [Plan Your Calm Worksheet](#plan-your-calm-worksheet) to Section 1. Prompt them with examples if they’re unsure (tests, intrusive thoughts, busy hallways). Record each trigger clearly.

Explore Coping Strategies

Introduce common coping strategies (deep breathing, grounding exercises, positive self-talk). Ask which ones feel doable and invite any personal ideas. Fill in Section 2 of the worksheet, noting how each strategy helps.

Outline Your Action Steps

Guide the student to section 4 of the worksheet. Help them break down their response into clear, ordered steps (e.g., notice feeling → choose strategy → reach out for help → check in afterward). Ensure each step is actionable.

Review & Practice Your Plan

Ask the student to role-play a sample trigger and talk through their plan aloud. Offer encouragement, note any needed tweaks, then collect the completed [Plan Your Calm Worksheet](#plan-your-calm-worksheet) for future reference.
