Welcome to Behavior Boost
Welcome the student warmly. Briefly explain that this 30-minute session will help them understand and change a behavior by identifying triggers, setting a clear goal, choosing rewards, and reflecting on next steps.
Review the four objectives so the student knows what to expect. Encourage questions to ensure they feel comfortable.
What Are Behavior Triggers?
Define “triggers” and explain how they lead to unwanted behaviors. Point to real-life examples to make it concrete.
Guide the student through recalling a recent incident. Fill out the chart together—listing the trigger, thoughts, feelings, and what happened.
Introduce the SMART concept (focus on Specific & Achievable). Help the student choose one behavior to change and break it into small steps.
Choose Positive Reinforcers
Show the card set and explain how rewards reinforce good habits. Let the student pick 2–3 items they find motivating.
Reflect & Plan Next Steps
Hand out the reflection sheet and ask the student to answer prompts. Summarize their plan, confirm a follow-up check-in, and encourage displaying materials.
