Lesson Plan

Pronoun Party

Students will identify and use the pronouns I, you, he, she, we, and they in simple sentences through songs, flashcards, and hands-on games to build speaking confidence.

Understanding basic pronouns helps preschoolers talk about themselves and others correctly, supporting early language development and social interaction skills.

Pronoun Party

Welcome the class! Introduce today’s lesson: pronouns are words like I, you, he, she, we, they. Ask: “Can anyone say a pronoun?”

Gather children in a circle. Press play on the audio. Encourage each child to point to themselves for “I,” point to a friend for “you,” etc., as they sing.

Sing-Along Lyrics

Project or read the lyrics line by line. Invite children to chime in on repeating the lines.

Flashcard Introduction

Hold up each flashcard. Say the pronoun aloud and have children repeat. Then ask 2–3 volunteers to use the pronoun in a sentence (e.g., “I am happy!”).

Poster Matching Activity

Divide children into pairs and hand out envelopes of sorting cards. Help them lay out the poster sections on the floor.

Pronoun Sorting Game

Scatter extra cards face down around the poster. Encourage turn-taking and joyful cheering for correct matches.

Mask Role-Play

Hand out one mask per child. Call out simple prompts (“Who can say ‘we are friends’?”). Children with that mask stand and speak.

Play the sing-along one last time as a farewell. Encourage dancing, clapping, and singing.
