Slide Deck

Resilience Builders

Welcome students! Introduce the lesson “Resilience Builders.” Explain that today they will explore what resilience means, discover their own strengths, and learn strategies to bounce back from setbacks. Use the slide’s color scheme to set a positive tone.

Lesson Objectives

Walk through each objective one by one. Emphasize how identifying strengths and sharing with peers builds confidence, and how brainstorming strategies gives them tools for real-life challenges.

Warm-Up Discussion

Pose the question and give students 30 seconds to think silently, then 2 minutes to discuss with a partner. Listen for key ideas to highlight afterwards.

Identifying Your Strengths

Distribute the Personal Strengths Reflection Worksheet (#personal-strengths-reflection-worksheet). Encourage students to write three strengths and concrete examples. Circulate and support any who need help.

Sharing Strengths

Form groups of 3–4. Hand out chart paper and the Group Discussion Prompts (#group-discussion-prompts). Remind students to take turns sharing and to capture key insights.

Group Discussion Prompts

Ensure each group has the printed prompts. Use these questions to deepen reflection and keep the discussion focused.

Brainstorming Resilience Strategies

Gather responses on the board or a new slide. Encourage students to think of additional strategies beyond the examples offered.

Exit Ticket

Distribute sticky notes. Explain that each student writes one strategy they’ll try and posts it as they exit. This serves as their personal action plan.

Key Takeaways

Summarize the lesson: knowing strengths, sharing with others, and using strategies foster resilience. Encourage students to revisit their notes and sticky-note commitments during the week.
