Lesson Plan

Resilience Recipe Plan

Guide the student to identify a personal challenge, leverage their strengths, reframe limiting narratives, and develop three SMART resilience‐building actions in one focused session.

Slide Deck

Resilience Recipe

Welcome the student and introduce the session’s purpose: building a resilience plan tailored to their strengths and experiences.

Session Objectives

Speak through each objective slowly, ensuring the student understands the flow.

Materials

Review each material with the student and show where they can find it.

1. Identify Your Core Challenge (5 min)

Ask the student to take five minutes to write a brief description of a recent or ongoing stressor. Provide prompts if needed.

2. Explore Personal Strengths (5 min)

Guide the student through each section of the worksheet: qualities, past successes, support. Help them circle their top three strengths.

3. Narrative Reframing (5 min)

Hand over the journal and invite the student to complete Prompt 1. Offer encouragement and model a sample if needed.

4. Craft Your Resilience Plan (5 min)

Display the table and fill out the first row with the student to model SMART goals, then let them complete the rest.

5. Reflection & Next Steps (5 min)

Encourage honest reflection. Note their answers and help refine tracking methods.

Quick Checklist Summary

Summarize the SMART criteria and monitoring plan. Remind them to revisit the checklist in practice.

Great Work!

Offer praise, outline next steps (e.g., schedule follow-up, set reminders), and encourage ongoing use of narrative reframing and strengths recall.
