Respect Begins With You

Welcome the students and introduce the lesson focus on self-respect. Say: “Today we’re going to learn how respecting ourselves helps us feel good and make healthy choices.”

What Is Respect?

Ask students: “What does respect mean?” Record their answers on the whiteboard. Then segue: “We know how to respect others. Now let’s talk about respecting ourselves.”

What Is Self-Respect?

Define self-respect: “Treating yourself kindly and valuing who you are.” Explain each phrase in kid-friendly terms.
