Students will learn what respect looks like in the classroom, why it matters, and how to demonstrate respect to teachers and classmates through discussion and role-play scenarios.

Explicitly teaching respect builds a positive classroom climate, promotes kindness and cooperation, and helps students feel valued and safe. This foundation supports social-emotional growth and reduces conflicts.

Respect Ranger Rally

Welcome students enthusiastically. Introduce today’s lesson and set a positive tone. Explain that everyone in this class can be a Respect Ranger by learning what respect is and how to show it.

What Is Respect?

Ask students what they think respect means. Chart responses on the board. Highlight listening, kind words, and following classroom rules.

Respectful vs. Disrespectful

Display the Respectful Behavior Poster. Point to each example and ask students if it shows respect or not. Invite quick thumbs up/down.

Scenario Role-Play

Explain the role-play activity. Divide students into pairs, distribute scenario cards, and model one scenario quickly. Circulate and support respectful language.

Reflection Time

After role-plays, ask volunteers to share one new idea for showing respect. Reinforce connections to classroom rules.

Respect Journal & Badge

Hand out the Respect Journal Worksheet and badge stickers. Tell students they have two minutes to draw or write about their respectful action choice.
