Confidentiality Essentials

Define confidentiality in your own words, then highlight the bullets. Clarify legal and ethical exceptions.

Creating Our Safety Circle

Explain the Safety Circle metaphor. Invite participants to close their eyes if comfortable and imagine a circle of protection.

Guideline 1: Respectful Listening

Discuss active listening behaviors: body language, paraphrasing, and silence. Model a brief listening demonstration.

Guideline 2: Non-Judgmental Responses

Share examples of non-judgmental language. Ask participants to rephrase a judgmental statement into a neutral question.

Guideline 3: Maintaining Confidentiality

Reiterate the confidentiality commitment. Explain how to address breaches respectfully but firmly.

Reflection & Commitment

Prompt silent reflection for 2–3 minutes. Then invite volunteers to share their commitments aloud.
