Shine From Within

Welcome everyone! Today we’re going to explore how to shine from within by building our self-esteem. I’ll guide you through understanding self-esteem, recognizing your strengths, challenging negative thoughts, and creating an action plan to boost your confidence every day.

What Is Self-Esteem?

Introduce the definition. Read aloud: “Self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves, including our beliefs about our abilities and self-worth.” Ask: Why do you think self-esteem is important?

What Does Self-Esteem Mean to You?

Invite students to think-pair-share. Ask 2–3 volunteers to share their responses with the group.

Recognizing Your Strengths

Distribute the Self-Esteem Reflection Worksheet. Give students 3 minutes to list three personal strengths. Then have them partner up to share and affirm each other.

Examples of Negative Self-Talk

Show each negative example, then read aloud and ask: Have you ever thought like this? How does it make you feel?

Rewriting Negative Thoughts

Ask students to rewrite two of the negative statements on their worksheet as positive, encouraging statements. Afterward, invite a few students to share.

Positive Self-Talk Role-Play

Explain the role-play task. Hand out activity cards. Circulate and support groups as they practice using positive self-talk in each scenario.

Your Personal Action Plan

Ask students to fill in two specific strategies on their worksheet. Encourage them to identify when (e.g., morning, before tests) and where they will practice these strategies.

Wrap-Up & Reflection

Invite 2–3 students to share one strategy from their action plan. Summarize key points and encourage daily practice. Remind them to keep their worksheets and use their action plans.
