Stand Up Speak Out Lesson Plan

Students will identify various bullying behaviors and develop a personalized action plan with concrete strategies to recognize, respond to, and prevent bullying.

By creating an individualized action plan, students gain confidence to advocate for themselves and others, promoting safety and empathy in the school community.

Welcome the student to the session. Introduce the purpose: developing a personalized bullying action plan. Emphasize confidentiality and open communication.

What is Bullying?

Define bullying: explain physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying. Use examples relevant to the student's experience.

Why Stand Up & Speak Out?

Discuss why standing up to bullying is important: builds confidence, protects others, and fosters a positive environment.

Scenario Analysis

Introduce the [Bullying Scenarios Worksheet](#bullying-scenarios-ws). Guide the student to read each scenario, identify the type of bullying, and consider possible responses.

Action Plan Development

Walk the student through the [Personalized Action Plan Template](#personalized-action-plan-template). Encourage listing trusted adults and specific strategies.

Reflection & Commitment

Ask the student to reflect on the strategy they found most helpful. Have them commit to using at least one new strategy and initial the plan.
