Stand Up, Speak Out: Bullying Prevention

Welcome everyone! Today we’re going to explore what bullying is, why it matters, and how each of you can stand up and speak out if you see someone being hurt. Let’s dive in and build a safer, kinder classroom together.

Today's Objectives

Review each objective one at a time. Ask students to give a quick thumbs-up if they feel comfortable with each goal, and clarify any questions.

What Is Bullying?

Ask: “In your own words, what do you think bullying means?” Record key student ideas on your anchor chart. Then reveal the formal definition and characteristics.

Scenario Analysis

Explain group setup: 3-4 students per group, one set of scenario cards each. Circulate to guide analysis: “How do you know this is bullying? What power difference do you see?”

Role-Play Intervention Strategies

Demonstrate one example role-play with a volunteer: show a safe phrase like “Stop, that’s not okay” or “Do you need help?” Then send groups back to practice.

Reflection & Closing

Hand out the reflection worksheet. Give students 2 minutes to write one insight and one action they’ll take. Collect the worksheets and thank everyone for their honest reflections.

Thank You!

Reiterate key message: each of us has the power to stop bullying. Encourage them to talk to a trusted adult if they’re ever unsure. Dismiss with a positive note.
