Stand Up to Harassment

Welcome students and introduce the lesson objective: define harassment and learn ways to respond safely. Mention this is a quick 5-minute overview.

What Is Harassment?

Read the definition aloud. Then highlight each example type and ask for one volunteer to summarize in their own words if time allows.

The Impact of Harassment

Prompt students: “How might harassment affect someone’s day or learning?” Listen to 1–2 quick responses, then reinforce with the slide bullets.

Response Strategies

Briefly explain each strategy. Offer a simple script: “Please stop—that’s not okay.” Remind students when it’s safe to ignore and when to seek help.

Resources & Next Steps

Distribute the Harassment Response Strategies Handout. Encourage students to pick one strategy to use and remind them of available support.
