Stay and Play: Mastering Self-Control

Introduce the lesson: Explain the purpose of today's session on self-control, emphasizing the fun and importance of learning how to stay safe and behave appropriately in the classroom.

What is Impulse Control?

Explain what impulse control is. Use the Impulse Control Visuals to show a simple story of a character who practices waiting and thinking before acting. Ask simple questions like “What do you think happens when we pause?” to engage the student.

Learning Through Stories

Introduce the Self-Control Story Cards. Narrate a short story about a character who demonstrates staying in the classroom rather than running out. Encourage role-play by asking the student to act out scenarios from the story.

Practice & Reflection

Guide the student through a quick practice session. Ask reflective questions about what they learned. Emphasize positive feedback and encourage repeat practice.
