Stretch Sequence Outline

Guide a 6th grader through a 20-minute cool-down stretch routine and mindfulness journaling to build flexibility, reduce stress, and deepen mind–body awareness.

Daily stretching combined with reflection fosters physical health, mental well-being, and self-awareness. This session empowers students with strategies to manage tension and practice mindful habits.

Mindful Movement

Welcome the student and introduce the session. Explain that today’s focus is on mindful stretching to help the body and mind feel calm and flexible.

Today’s Objectives

Read each objective aloud. Ask the student to repeat and share which objective feels most exciting.

Benefits of Mindful Stretching

Highlight how each benefit plays out in daily life (e.g., feeling less sore after PE, calming nerves before a test).

Key Stretching Moves

Demonstrate each stretch slowly as you introduce it. Encourage the student to follow along.

Breathing & Awareness

Explain that breath is the anchor for awareness. Guide the student through one full cycle of inhale–exhale.

Reflection Prompts

Prompt the student to write thoughtfully. Give time cues to help them pace their writing.

Keep It Going

Encourage the student to practice these stretches daily and jot down any new observations.
