Slide Deck

Teasing: Friend or Foe?

Welcome students. Today we’ll explore the difference between playful and hurtful teasing. Our goal is to help you recognize when teasing crosses the line and learn strategies to respond respectfully.

Let’s Talk Teasing

Display this slide and ask: “What comes to mind when you hear ‘teasing’?” Call on volunteers and jot their ideas on the board.

Playful vs Hurtful Teasing

Introduce the two definitions, emphasizing the difference in intent and impact.

Scenario #1: Friendly Tease

Read the scenario aloud or have a student volunteer. Then ask pairs to label it Playful or Hurtful and explain why.

Scenario #2: Crossing the Line

Repeat the process: pairs decide classification and share reasoning.

Responding to Hurtful Teasing

Present each strategy clearly. Model one with a volunteer. Invite students to suggest how tone and body language matter.

Your Action Plan

Explain the exit ticket: students write one action they’ll take next time they see hurtful teasing. Collect as they leave.
