Lesson Plan

Understanding and Processing Grief

Processing grief and loss of a guardian

This lesson aims to assist middle school students in understanding and processing grief, specifically the grief related to the loss of a guardian. Using trauma-informed teaching strategies and experiential learning, students will learn how to recognize and handle their emotions in a supportive environment. Through discussion, an activity, and a video, students will be encouraged to acknowledge their feelings and learn coping mechanisms. This lesson is essential as it provides a safe space for students to explore a difficult and often isolating experience, fostering emotional resilience and community support.
