Everyday Heroes Plan

Students will identify everyday heroic behaviors, discuss real-life examples, and create a classroom reward system to recognize peers’ positive actions.

This lesson builds a culture of positive reinforcement by celebrating kindness and bravery in everyday interactions, boosting student engagement, empathy, and self-esteem.

What Makes a Hero?

Welcome students and display the image. Ask: 'Who do you think this person is? Why?' Introduce the lesson topic.

Defining a Hero

Read the definition aloud. Ask students to give a thumbs-up if they’ve seen someone do any of these things.

Everyday Hero Examples

Go through each example. Invite a few students to share if they’ve seen or done one of these.

Hero or Not?

Divide students into pairs to discuss each scenario. Then call on volunteers to share their thoughts.

Heroes Around Us

Summarize key points and transition to the Brainstorm Discussion activity. Remind students they’ll create badges soon.
