Where Does Plaque Go?

Welcome students! Today we’ll explore what plaque is and how it forms on our teeth.

What Is Plaque?

Explain that plaque is invisible film full of bacteria. Ask: Have you ever felt your teeth fuzzy right after eating?

How Plaque Forms

Show a picture of sugar cubes and bacteria. Describe how sugar feeds the bacteria in our mouth.

Plaque Builds Up

Illustrate a yellow film around a drawn tooth. Emphasize that plaque left too long can cause cavities.

Brushing Away Plaque

Demonstrate brushing on a tooth model or drawing. Use circular motions and explain why.

Flossing Removes Plaque

Show floss moving between two drawn teeth. Highlight that floss gets into tiny gaps.

A Clean, Healthy Tooth

Contrast a clean, shiny tooth with a tooth covered in plaque. Celebrate the clean tooth!
