In this 90-minute, one-session lesson for 2nd graders, students learn what empathy feels like and why welcoming new classmates matters. Through discussions, warm-ups, and a creative project (welcome packets, brochures, or videos), students practice kindness, communication, and design skills. This Tier 1 lesson builds a supportive classroom community from day one.

This individualized toolkit helps a 2nd grade student recognize and manage emotions using the Zones of Regulation framework. Over a 30-minute session, the student will learn the zones, create personalized strategies, and track their emotional states. This lesson supports CASEL competencies, tailored for Tier 3 individual support.
