Session 1: Introduction & Awareness

Introduce the concept of social anxiety, emphasizing its prevalence and how it affects interpersonal interactions. Encourage students to share personal experiences in a supportive environment. Use open-ended questions and the discussion prompts from the Social Anxiety Discussion Guide to facilitate conversation.

Session 2: Identifying Triggers

Explain what triggers are, relating them to personal experiences and common social situations. Guide students through a reflection activity using the Trigger Identification Worksheet followed by small group discussion.

Session 3: Understanding Emotions & Responses

Discuss the physiological and emotional responses to anxiety. Lead a mindfulness exercise to help students focus on their bodily sensations and journal their experiences. Encourage reflection on how these responses impact social interactions.

Session 4: Coping Strategies & Role-Playing

Introduce practical coping strategies such as deep breathing and positive self-talk. Utilize the Coping Strategies Role-Play Cards to simulate realistic social scenarios. Encourage role-playing in groups and facilitate peer feedback.

Session 5: Reflection & Action Plan

Facilitate a reflective discussion to review the strategies learned during the sessions. Guide students in creating a personal action plan for managing social anxiety and summarize the key takeaways for continuous support.
