By the end of Session 1, K–3 students will recognize and label basic emotions using an emotion chart and practice a simple mindful breathing strategy to help calm themselves.

By the end of Session 2, K–3 students will review mindful breathing, learn and practice a second self-regulation strategy (progressive muscle relaxation), and identify which tool they’ll use when they notice big feelings.
Offering multiple calming tools and encouraging choice strengthens self-regulation, fosters independence, and helps students manage emotions across settings.
