Lesson Plan

Detective Case File

In this 30-minute small-group lesson, students act as detectives to practice CASEL’s Responsible Decision-Making by identifying and evaluating consequences, alternatives, and ethical factors in real-life scenarios. Students will collaborate to analyze decisions, record insights, and reflect on how considering multiple factors leads to wiser choices.

Analyzing real-world scenarios equips students with critical thinking and self-awareness, empowering them to make thoughtful, ethical choices. This lesson develops collaborative reasoning and decision-making skills, supporting students to reflect on potential outcomes and learn from diverse perspectives before acting.
