Lesson Plan

Emotion Superheroes Plan

Students will become 'Emotion Superheroes' by practicing deep breathing, movement breaks, and calm-down strategies to recognize and manage big feelings.

Early self-regulation skills help Pre-K learners identify emotions, reduce classroom disruptions, and build lifelong coping strategies in a fun, supportive environment.

Emotion Superheroes

Welcome everyone! Introduce yourself as today’s guide on becoming Emotion Superheroes. Explain that we’ll learn fun skills to manage big feelings.

Our Superpower: Feeling Awareness

Hold up the Emotion Faces Cards. Point to each and ask volunteers to name the emotion. Reinforce that naming feelings is our first superpower.

Superhero Breath

Display the Deep Breathing Visuals on your board or handouts. Demonstrate inhale–hold–exhale with counts. Count out loud together.

Cue up the Movement Break Song. Encourage energetic superhero poses—flying, jumping, stretching. Model big movements first.

Gather students in the Calm-Down Corner. Show the Calm-Down Jar Demo Video or shake your glitter jar. Explain how watching the glitter helps calm our minds.

Reflect & Color

Invite kids to share which skill they liked best. Hand out coloring sheets and encourage independent practice at centers.
