Slide Deck

The Power of Empathy

Introduce the slide deck with energy. Explain that the session will explore the concept of empathy, why it matters, and how it can improve relationships. Emphasize that empathy is about understanding and relating to others' feelings.

What is Empathy?

Discuss the definition of empathy. Use simple language and examples relevant to a 9th-grade student (social media interactions, daily school experiences, or family life). Encourage students to reflect on moments they've experienced empathy or witnessed it.

Empathy in Action

Show visuals that depict various scenarios demonstrating empathy (e.g., comforting a friend, working as a team). Ask the student questions to promote discussion: 'When have you observed empathy in action? How did that make you feel?'

Reflect & Connect

Facilitate a reflection discussion. Ask the student to think about how they can apply empathy in their own life. Guide with prompts like 'How can empathy build stronger relationships at school?' and 'What steps can you take to practice empathy daily?'
