Lesson Plan

Mindful Minutes Plan

In a focused 20-minute session, students will practice a feelings check-in, two breathing exercises, a guided visualization, and complete a journal entry to develop stress-management and concentration skills.

Teaching mindfulness equips students with tools to self-regulate emotions, reduce classroom anxiety, and build lifelong wellness habits that support academic success.

Peaceful Pause

Welcome students to the Peaceful Pause visualization. Remind them to sit comfortably, close their eyes or soften their gaze, and breathe naturally. Speak slowly and pause between prompts to allow immersion.

Beach Bliss

After reading the prompt, pause for 20–30 seconds. Guide them: “Inhale…2…3…4. Exhale…2…3…4…5…6.”

Forest Retreat

Allow 20–30 seconds of silence. Use a soft tone: “Let the forest sounds fill your mind.”

Mountain Meadow

Pause again for quiet reflection. Encourage full-body relaxation.

Sunset Calm

Lead them through one final deep breath cycle: “Inhale…2…3…4…5. Exhale…2…3…4…5…6.”

Return & Reflect

Slowly bring students back: “Wiggle your fingers and toes. When you’re ready, gently open your eyes.”
