Introduce the topic of emotions and the importance of understanding them. Explain that today we will explore a tool called the Mood Meter to help us identify and articulate our emotions.

What is the Mood Meter?

Explain the concept of the Mood Meter. The Mood Meter is divided into four quadrants based on energy and pleasantness levels. Each quadrant represents different emotions.

High Energy & Pleasant

Discuss the High Energy & Pleasant quadrant. Provide examples of emotions that fit here, such as excited, joyful, and enthusiastic.

High Energy & Unpleasant

Discuss the High Energy & Unpleasant quadrant. Provide examples of emotions that fit here, such as angry, frustrated, and anxious.

Low Energy & Pleasant

Discuss the Low Energy & Pleasant quadrant. Provide examples of emotions that fit here, such as calm, relaxed, and content.

Low Energy & Unpleasant

Discuss the Low Energy & Unpleasant quadrant. Provide examples of emotions that fit here, such as sad, tired, and bored.

Where Are You on the Mood Meter?

Encourage students to think about where they might place themselves on the Mood Meter right now. This will lead into the interactive activity.

Interactive Activity

Introduce the interactive activity where students will place themselves on the Mood Meter. Encourage open discussion about their choices.

Reflection Time

Guide students through a reflection activity using the Mood Meter Reflection Worksheet. Encourage them to write about their emotions and share if comfortable.
