Welcome the student and introduce today’s focus. Explain: “We’ll learn why words and personal property matter, and practice respecting others.”

Why Words Matter

Ask: “Have you ever had your feelings hurt by something someone said?” Connect to idea that words can hurt.

What Is a Racist Slur?

Define slur without using examples. Emphasize impact over intent.

Why Touching Property Matters

Discuss common items (phones, backpacks). Ask: “How would you feel if someone touched your things without asking?”

Respectful Alternatives

Encourage the student to suggest other respectful choices.

Boundary Activity
