Slide Deck

Walking in Their Shoes

Welcome the student and introduce today’s session. Explain that they will practice understanding others’ thoughts and feelings through short stories and activities. Emphasize the goal of building empathy and stronger friendships.

Why Perspective-Taking?

Use this slide to explain why perspective-taking matters. Share a quick personal example or school scenario. Connect the skill to everyday interactions with friends and family.

Activity 1: Perspective Exploration

Hand the student the Perspective Prompt Cards. Read the first scenario aloud, then guide them through identifying characters, setting, and possible thoughts. Use the suggested prompts to dig deeper.

Activity 2: Emotion Mapping

Provide the Emotion Graphic Organizer. Encourage the student to choose one scenario and list emotions for each character, citing evidence. Suggest drawing or color-coding to make it engaging.

Reflection & Next Steps

Distribute the Reflection Worksheet. Ask the student to write one insight gained about perspective-taking and one way to apply it in real life. Conclude by praising effort and encouraging ongoing practice.
